Apartment or Hotel for a Long Stay in Bali: How to Choose

For a weekend, almost any comfortable room will do. Stay a month or longer and the details of daily life take over: where you keep your food, where you work, how the stay is priced and what the street outside is like. This guide compares an apartment with a hotel on exactly those points, using The Rooms Apartment in West Denpasar as the apartment example, so you can choose with fewer surprises.

Space: picture an ordinary weekday

In a hotel, the room is mostly a place to sleep. On a long stay it also becomes your office, dining room and storage. At The Rooms, the Studio Double Room and the Studio Twin Room are 30 m² for up to two guests, and both have a balcony. The Studio Double Room and the Studio Suite each have a desk, which matters if you work online. The Two Bedroom Suite is 45 m² for up to four guests, with separate bedrooms, two queen beds and a sitting area.

Before you book, walk through a normal weekday in your head. Where will you take video calls? Will two people sharing a studio sleep better in twin beds or in a queen bed? Does your family need a door between the parents and the children? The answers usually choose the room type for you.

A kitchenette changes your routine

Every unit at The Rooms has a kitchenette with a mini fridge. On a long stay, this is one of the clearest differences from a standard hotel room: breakfast, coffee, fruit and simple meals can happen at home, and eating out becomes a choice rather than a necessity. It also makes a monthly budget easier to plan.

Kitchen equipment varies from place to place, so ask what comes with the unit before you plan your meals around it. If cooking at home matters to you, that one extra message is worth sending.

Daily or monthly: how the booking works

Hotels usually price by the night, while apartments set up for longer stays often rent by the month as well. The Rooms offers both daily and monthly rentals. For availability and rates, send the team your dates and preferred room type, as explained in the FAQ. If you are not sure how long you will stay, ask how an extension works and how much notice the team needs, so your plans can change without a last-minute scramble.

Denpasar or the beach: choose your everyday

On a long stay, the neighbourhood shapes your days more than the room does. Beach areas such as Seminyak and Canggu revolve around visitors, with cafés, beach clubs and busy evenings. Denpasar is Bali's capital and its everyday side: offices, schools, markets and malls, with demand for accommodation that barely moves with the seasons. The Rooms is in Pemecutan Kelod, West Denpasar. Trans Studio Mall Bali is about 3.1 km by road, Level 21 Mall about 4.3 km, Kuta Beach about 7 km and Ngurah Rai International Airport about 11 km. Getting around is easiest by car or scooter, and travel time depends on traffic. If you want to walk to the sand every morning, a beach area will suit you better. If you want calm, ordinary city life with the beach as an outing, Denpasar works well. The location page has a map.

If you like this part of Denpasar but prefer a hotel set-up, Cozy Stay Bali is about 0.8 km away by road and has studio, one- and two-bedroom residences with an outdoor pool. If you would rather live on the Seminyak side, Sunrise Suite Seminyak, about 3 km by road, offers long-stay residences with private kitchens and a pool. Reservations for all three go through the same central ARM team, so one message can cover them all.

What to ask before you book

A short message before you book saves surprises later. These questions are worth asking for any long stay, in an apartment or a hotel:

  • Which costs does the rate include, for example electricity or cleaning, and which are charged separately?
  • How are cleaning and linen changes handled on a monthly stay?
  • What equipment comes with the kitchenette?
  • Which layout fits your days: a desk, twin beds or separate bedrooms?
  • Is there parking? The Rooms has on-site parking for cars and motorbikes, which matters if you plan to rent a scooter.
  • How do you reach the team during your stay if something needs fixing?
  • What are the check-in and check-out arrangements for your dates?

If an apartment fits the way you want to live in Bali, compare the layouts on the rooms page and send the team your dates. Clear answers to the questions above will tell you more than any photo.
